Birthday celebrations in the Netherlands and Belgium
Everyone knows it, the typical birthday party. Family and friends are invited to your birthday to sit in a circle at your home or in a restaurant with delicious refreshments. A lavishly decorated living room with balloons and garlands should not be missing, as well as a large, preferably personalized, birthday cake. Delicious! In these times of uncertainty due to the Corona virus, it is extra important for many people to celebrate their birthday. Celebrating your birthday makes you feel happy, but most of all connected to those around you.
Birthday traditions abroad
In the Netherlands and Belgium we traditionally celebrate our birthday on our date of birth, but this is by no means true in all countries. In some countries, you celebrate your birthday on the day of a saint or on a joint day with the whole family. In Vietnam, even everyone celebrates their birthday on the same day. During Tết Nguyên Đán, Vietnamese celebrate all birthdays three days in a row with spectacular fireworks shows, dragon dancing and, of course, presents!
What do you need for the perfect birthday?
Traditionally, we in the Netherlands and Belgium celebrate our birthdays extensively which involves the necessary birthday decorations. But, what should really not be missing when organizing a birthday? Partywinkel helps you organize the perfect birthday. We make your birthday extra personal with birthday decorations for a variety of ages, interests and themes.
1.Birthday balloons
No party without birthday balloons! For a beautiful decoration, balloons should not be missing. Birthday balloons come in all colors and sizes. Where balloons used to be made of animal intestines (uhl!), they are now made of latex or foil. A balloon arch can serve as an instant eye-catcher as your guests enter. But also check out helium balloons, nothing is more fun than balloons that float in the air by themselves! Did you know that balloon contests are also held on how long a balloon can float? Contestants attach their details to the balloon and then release the balloon into the air to see which balloon gets the furthest. Cool and we have self-designed balloon cards available for this!
2.Birthday garlands and flags
The party fun secretly begins the night before when hanging birthday garlands and flags, with the birthday boy or girl then entering a decorated hallway and living room in the morning completely surprised. Birthday garlands and flags can be found at almost every birthday party. You often use birthday garlands made of plastic or crepe paper, but abroad some people make long garlands out of flowers. Making these garlands can take hours. Whatever material you use, birthday garlands are not to be missed. They brighten up the entire room. Choose birthday garlands with the birthday boy's age on them or choose your favorite theme. From Frozen streamers to Fortnite streamers Partywinkel has the perfect streamers for you!
3.Birthday table decorations and supplies
Hey, cake and various refreshments. Delicious! Of course, with that comes a completely decorated table and matching plates, cups, cutlery and napkins. Choose a beautiful birthday tablecloth or a fun birthday table runner. As icing on the cake, complete your table with table decorations. Consider a table decoration piece, table confetti or a bottle with a fun label. Of course, guests drink in style with a pretty paper straw. Awesome fun and good for the environment too!
4.Birthday candles
Candles obviously complete the birthday cake! A great way to show everyone how old the birthday person has become. But, if you think that candles on the birthday cake are of today, you are wrong! Candles were already used by the ancient Greeks to offer moon-shaped cakes on the birthdays of the gods. According to the Greeks, the candles gave the cakes a special glow, just like the moon. When you blew out the candles you were allowed to make a wish. To make wishes come true even now, Partywinkel has a large assortment of candles, will you take a look soon? Together we can work wonders.
5.Birthday accessories
Birthday accessories complete your birthday party. Treat yourself or the birthday boy or girl with a nice sash or rosette. Then you can be sure no one can overlook your birthday! For the ladies there are also beautiful age crowns, will you be the queen on your birthday?
6.Uitdeelzakjes
Are all the guests going home already? Then don't be sad! With handout bags you give your guests a reminder of your birthday. Only for children? No way! Take fun photos with a polaroid camera on your birthday using photo props. For sure you will see the photos in people's homes for years to come. The very best party ever!
Special ages and anniversaries
Some birthday parties are extra special because of a special age or anniversary. One of the most special birthdays is, of course, birth. For this you pack extra big with a stork on the window and special rusks with mice or christening sugars. When you get older you arrive at Sweet 16 parties. Sweet 16 birthdays are starting to become more prevalent in Western countries as well; the elaborate celebration of becoming a young adult. After all, at Sweet 16 age, you can already drive a scooter and start your car driving lessons! The 18th and 21st birthdays are also part of this, of course. The beginning of adulthood.
Next come the other sweet birthdays. Each dozen is of course celebrated with special age decorations. Garlands, balloons, hats, sashes and much more with your age on them. You just can't think of it! 50 years, Abraham or Sarah is of course the most special. You only turn fifty once, the second youth begins. Surprise the birthday boy or girl with an inflatable Abraham or Sarah doll, 50 year drop-off ribbons and 50 year decorations.
The best children's party
For your child you are willing to go through fire, this is also reflected in children's birthday parties. As a parent, you naturally want the best for your child. Many parents organize the most creative parties, where theme parties are always a hit! Dive into the world of pirates and pirates with the kids at a real pirate party with a search on the beach for treasure. Or discover together with the children the wonderful world of unicorns while the children decorate magical cupcakes and make their own horn. Anything is possible with Partywinkelthemed decorations! Above all, do not forget to think back to your own childhood, how wonderfully you could be absorbed in your imagination. With a little imagination, a good story and the right decorations, every children's party is a success!
